While urging patience on the matter of health care reform, Sen. Judd Gregg said he expects a major health care bill to pass by late October. He also called any discussion of “death panels” hyperbole that has unnecessarily consumed too much public concern.

While various reports have suggested that chances of a bipartisan agreement on health care legislation are sinking into the sunset, the Gang of Six – those three Democrats and three Republicans on the Senate Finance Committee – appear to be plowing ahead.

The $3 billion Cash for Clunkers program will shut down on Monday, the government said Thursday.
