Sen. Judd Gregg (N.H.) announced that he will vote to confirm Sotomayor, and Sen. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) said she will oppose the nomination. All GOP senators but one, George V. Voinovich (Ohio), have announced their intentions.

Dallas Morning News (Dallas, TX)
Texas Sen. John Cornyn, accusing the White House of compiling an “enemies list,” has asked President Barack Obama to stop an effort to collect “fishy” information Americans see about a health care overhaul.

Times-Picayune (New Orleans, LA)
Former Rep. William Jefferson was convicted Wednesday of 11 of 16 counts of public corruption in a verdict that prosecutors said could send the 62-year-old New Orleans Democrat to prison for 20 years.

St. Petersburg Times (St. Petersburg, FL)
Former state Republican Chairman Al Cardenas has never been especially close with Charlie Crist and is a longtime close friend of Marco Rubio’s. So it came as a surprise when Cardenas endorsed Crist for Senate.

News-Times (Danbury, CT)
Lt. Gov. Michael Fedele said while he expects Gov. M. Jodi Rell to seek re-election next year, he is ready to step into the top spot if she bows out.
