The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) has identified 70 Democrats to target for the 2010 election, according to an email obtained by AOL Politics Daily. Many of the targeted members are Democratic freshmen and sophomores from conservative districts.

After weeks of hints and almost-declarations, U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak plans to make it official today: He will challenge veteran Sen. Arlen Specter in the 2010 Pennsylvania Democratic primary.

Los Angeles Time (Los Angeles, CA)
As the Senate begins debate today on Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor with the outcome assured, the only remaining questions are whether the National Rifle Assn. can claim to have swayed votes against her and whether President Obama can claim a victory for bipartisanship.

Former New Hampshire Attorney General Kelly Ayotte (R) has given the GOP a top-tier candidate in an open Senate seat, but the National Republican Senatorial Committee’s (NRSC) quick embrace has angered some in the Granite State.
