After deciding not to run early this afternoon and telling several insiders he was out of the race for IL Senate, Republican Congressman Mark Kirk (IL-10) seemingly had a change of heart — believing that McKenna might be talked out of the primary race.

This morning, the Senate Judiciary Committee began the confirmation hearings for Judge Sonia Sotomayor, President Obama’s first nominee to the Supreme Court.

Philadelphia Inquirer (Philadelphia, PA)

U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak plans to report this week that he raised a little more than $1 million in the second quarter this year, giving him $4.2 million in the bank for an expected Democratic primary challenge to Sen. Arlen Specter, campaign officials said yesterday.
