As many people prepared for a long weekend celebrating America’s birthday and our lives as free members of an incredible nation, many pundits and politics-watchers were shocked when Governor and former VP candidate Sarah Palin (R-AK) suddenly announced she would be resigning 18 months before her term as governor was over. This revelation came on the heels of a damaging Vanity Fair article that claimed that McCain campaign insiders blamed Gov. Palin for the campaign’s loss. While this may or may not be true, many people are now wondering what the Governor’s motivation was. Palin claimed her reasoning revolved around the costs Alaska was incurring from claims of ethics violations by her political enemies. Some are saying that this is a jump to establish herself better for 2012, when Palin is rumored to attempt to run for the Republican Presidential nomination. However, critics say that this mysterious behavior could hurt Palin, who has already been seen by many Americans as too right-wing on many social issues for their tastes. RRM will continue to follow this story.
